Maziya celebrates the winning goal

Male', MALDIVES - VB sports becomes the latest victim of Maziya’s continuous shocking results in ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi League. Maziya, who shocked champion New Radiant in their last game, forced VB to leave the ground shivering with a heart broken 1 -0 defeat, thanks to Chandradasa’s 75th minute winner.

This was Maziya’s first meeting against VB after their humiliating result in FA Cup, where VB thrashed the helpless minnows by 7 – 0 in VB’s first appearance to the new season.

In the first minute of the game, Chandradasa fired a shot into VB goal beating two defenders, but was saved by keeper Sinan.

Five minutes later VB created their first chance, but captain Ali Umar’s shot hit the side net.

Maziya, who were without first team keeper Ifrah for suspension, faced another dangerous effort from VB in the 18th minute. Ifrah’s replacement Muruthalah couldn’t clear the danger from Muslim and he crossed the ball in front of an empty goal but no white shirts to do any damage to the opponent.

In the 28th minute Fazeel received a good cross from Niyaz, but the ball contacted his hand in the process of controlling.

In the 65th minute Chandra missed an opportunity for early shooting. He could have gone further inside of VB penalty area, but his shot on the edge of VB penalty area went across the goal.

Six minutes later he tried a chip shot, but went wide over the goal.

At a time when Maziya’s attacking was far superior than star assembled VB Sports, they took the lead in the 75th minute. A free kick executed on the edge of VB penalty area was headed by Chandra and looked like defender Haneef had a slight touch on the ball on its way to the back of VB goal.

VB captain Ali Umar was furious over his team mates for their lack of concentration; it seems, after the goal.

Maziya tried their best to hold on to the unexpected lead and VB Sports went close to cut the deficit in the 90th minute, but Maziya defenders did a brilliant job clearing the ball on the goal line.

After the match, Maziya coach Mahfooz stated the huge defeat they suffered against VB in FA Cup will be forgotten with this win and noted they have achieved their target for the season.

"The players worked really hard. The huge defeat in the FA cup is surely forgotten now and the players did really hard work to over come it. I am really happy today"

"I would remind them that the other opponents are really stronger than us. The two wins might make the players over confident and I would do my best to remind them the opponents are stronger"

“Now we have achieved our target for this season. The management wanted to remain in the 1st division and we have done that today"

Disappointed VB coach Carlos said the injuries and suspensions might have an effect on the performance and also suspected the players were too much worried about Maziya as they beat New Radiant earlier.

"It was not football that was played today. We just could not pass the ball and it was all long balls"

"There's no excuse. We just could not play today" He kept on repeating

"Boykov was injured, Fareed suspended and Easa also injured and it might have affected the performance. But that's not an excuse"

Keep it up Maaziya, great work. Youve beaten the two teams who claim themselves that they have the best in the Maldives players at the moment. Once again congratulations to Kokky and crew.

that really a shame to a club like VB, cox the club has many professional players and a choach too, plus the higher salary. the biggest disadvantage to VB is the higher salary they give to their player and their expectation is too high while they donot even touch the ball. they thougt they can defeat clubs like maziya and other.... but i always b with VB i LOVE MY VB

Its not a question about the credibility of Carlos, you can have the bvest coach and best players but if they cant work as a team you wont get results. A very good example is Real Madrid. World class players but still very poor standard of playing with the current players. So I would put the whole blame on the players and the management of VB. Carlos is always pressured to select certain players instructed by Saveed and Gahtan. And this is what happens when players who does not deserve to get hundreds of thousands of rufiya as salary. This is a problem with the Star players EGO.

maziya keep up the gud work. all players make sure that u don't go in a wrong way. if a team is playing well (specialy a team who lacks of money) the rich teams will try to turn u to their side. pls keep that in mind. wish u gud luck in the season.
